Novels in Verse

Anyone else out there working on a novel in verse? Of any I've read, my current project is most like Lynne Rae Perkins' Criss-Cross. I'd love to have more multi-voiced titles to maybe inspire me over the hurdles I encounter.

Hi, Katherine,
I especially liked Hill's explanation of line breaks. Sad to say, I've had no clear reason for breaking the line in my free verse poems. No I feel a bit grounded and also want to see the book he recommended on breaking the line.

Hi, Katherine,

It was so nice to meet you in person. Did you learn what you needed at the narrative verse workshop? I found it very helpful, but I came in on the ground floor. There's lots to digest! Hope we can connect again some time.

Katherine,
Yes, it was great this year. Inspirational. I think it'll take me some time to process everything there was to absorb there. Hope to see you next year too!

I registered last night. It's amazing that some choices were already filled. Let's keep an eye out for each other at the conference.

Hi, Katherine,
Are you going to the NESCBWI conference in April in Nashua?

What a small world, eh? I went to one yoga session there! Perhaps a Thursday. I called VSC and inquired about children's writers. There was no issue about it. I did apply under Poetry because Marilyn Nelson, a YA poet, was to be in residence and I wanted a critique. But I wrote Children's in the Other space. While there, I worked on a collection of children's poetry and a revision of a MG novel. I loved it - such wonderful exchanges among people working in all disciplines and genres. A room of one's own to write in and superb meals prepared for you.

Hi Katherine - This is my first time wandering around a site like this. I may get lost but getting lost can lead to all kinds of discovery. In answer to your question, Leslie Conner wrote a book in verse. Title is - Dead on Town Road, I think. Also, Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse.
Best,
Marilyn
