MyNESCBWI

Social Network for Children's Book Creators, Hosted by New England SCBWI

This upcoming weekend is the SCBWI Winter Conference in New York City. I'm not going to be there but I'm looking forward to hearing all about it from friends, from blogs, and this year, from MyNESCBWI. Thanks to our new social network, those of us who can't be there in person can still get a taste of the action from others who can.

First, Anindita Basu Sempere will attempt to live-blog from the conference through the magic of Twitter and RSS. The resulting updates will appear for our viewing pleasure on the front page of MyNESCBWI throughout the weekend. And if anyone else wants to shout out from New York, via text messages or blog, let me know and I'll help you set it up.

Also, any MyNESCBWIer at the New York conference with a cell phone capable of taking photos or short videos should make a note of a personalized email address generated just for you. It will be located toward the bottom of your Settings page under the label, "Add By Phone." Pictures or video sent to this address will be added to the site and to your My Page, so program MyNESCBWI into your phone and be ready for all the shots you want to share.

This is just the beginning. If this experiment works, we can extend it to other conferences including the New England SCBWI conference in the spring, the Los Angeles conference in the summer, and other events as they come up.

Just remember to respect the privacy of others and, in the case of videos, the copyright interests of speakers and workshop presenters. Images or videos will be removed if they violate site rules or at the request of any person who prominently appears in them. Other than that... Lights, camera, action!
