MyNESCBWI

Social Network for Children's Book Creators, Hosted by New England SCBWI

Most information and activity is summarized on the main page of MyNESCBWI, making it easy to...

Check For Updates

...by refreshing the page.

As the main page is currently configured, three columns of summary content flow down from the navigation bar. Any time you visit or reload the main page, you can check for items that are changed or updated. During busy periods you can keep MyNESCBWI open in the background as you do other things and reload every once in a while to see what other people are up to.

Here is a handy map to the MyNESCBWI main page. The most important and frequently changed are the items in italics.

On the left:

  • Information about MyNESCBWI and links to tutorial entries like this one about things you can do on the site. As I come up with new suggestions, they'll be added to the list.
  • Featured Events of interest to SCBWI members in New England. These will change as old events expire and new events are added.
  • A slideshow of the latest images added to the site. The slideshow will update as new images are added.
  • A Chat module showing who is online and what they've been saying, if a chat session is currently going on (as well as an interface to participate in the chat without going anywhere else).

In the middle:

  • A welcome box linking to the most common tasks. This item will not change.
  • A countdown to the New England SCBWI Annual Conference.
  • The latest blog entries, updating every time a new blog is posted by a MyNESCBWI participant.
  • The Latest Activity block, showing everything that happens on the site--when new people join, friends are connected, profiles are changed, discussions are engaged in, blogs are posted, etc. This is the most important place to check for updates.
  • A Participants block with icons of the most recent people to join (and their names, if you mouse-over the pictures).
  • The latest forum discussions with information on who started the discussion, who made the most recent reply, and how long ago.
  • A list of groups you might want to join, arranged by participation level
  • And just for fun and reference, a list of Amazon bestselling children's books arranged by ages.

On the right:

  • A log-in block with more links to things you can do.
  • Some ads you can ignore.
  • Information about how New England SCBWI has no control over the ads that appear on these pages.
  • Links to the latest posts to the New England SCBWI website.
  • Credits for the artwork appearing on the site.
